Albert’s one-hour crime-drama pilot script Renaissance Town has been selected as a quarterfinalist from a total of 592 entries in the 2025 BlueCat TV Writing Competition. Semifinalists will be announced on July 1, 2025.
Renaissance Town, written by Albert M. Chan, is set in a dying Rust Belt town recently rejuvenated by refugees. When a local Caucasian woman is raped an murdered, the police department’s first ethnically Karen Burmese female officer must go rogue to prove her brother’s innocence, all the while navigating questionable police conduct, her brother’s evasiveness, an overbearing mother, flaring racial tensions, the media frenzy, and past traumas in Myanmar.
