The Opposite of a Fairy Tale screens Saturday, July 23rd, at 7pm, at Village East Cinema as part of the 39th Annual Asian American International Film Festival. The film screens in the Made in NY Shorts Program.

The film follows a social worker (Nikole Marone) who uncovers the prevalent issues of elder abuse after she befriends an elderly patient (Jo Yang) at a nursing home. The film also stars Deb Kuhn and Albert M. Chan.

The film was made possible, in part, through a grant from the Asian Women’s Giving Circle. The New York Asian Women will host a panel discussion following the screening, featuring writer Jennifer Betit Yen and actor Nikole Marone.

The Asian American International Film Festival (AAIFF), presented by Asian CineVision, is the first and longest running festival in the country devoted to films by and about Asians and Asian Americans.
