The Butler and the Ball premieres in The Czech Republic at the Prague Youth Film Festival. The film screens in the Young Directors Block, in which the films are directed by kids aged 8-15 years. The film is available on demand for free here from December 21, 2020, 5pm ET to December 28, 2020, 3pm ET.
The Butler and the Ball, an urban fairy tale about a lonely boy who enters a contest to become the new butler of a grieving, reclusive singer, is directed by eight-year-old Andrew Chan-Possemato, who wrote and produced it with Albert.
The Prague Youth Film Festival (PYFF) is an annual event dedicated to the celebration of emerging international filmmakers. Their mission is to highlight and provide a boost to new filmmaking talents.
Among the PYFF 2019 members were American film producer Rick McCallum (Star Wars, Britannia, In Love and War, Borgia), British director Kirk Jones (Waking Ned Devine, Everybody’s Fine, and What to Expect When You’re Expecting), as well German cinematographer Rene Richter (Head Full of Honey, Zone Rouge), and Czech production designer Petr Kunc (Lea, Day of the Dog, The Hypnotist).
