Albert’s one-hour crime-drama pilot script Renaissance Town has been selected as a quarterfinalist in the 6th Annual Stage 32 TV Drama Screenwriting Contest. Semifinalists will be announced on July 31, 2026.

Renaissance Town, written by Albert M. Chan, is set in a dying Rust Belt town recently rejuvenated by refugees. When a beloved young woman is raped and murdered in a Rust Belt city remaking itself as a refugee haven, Utica’s first Karen Burmese police officer is torn between her badge, her family, and her community as she risks everything to clear her brother in a case powerful people are determined to simplify.

Renaissance Town was previously a semifinalist in the BlueCat TV Writing Competition.

Stage 32 is a global entertainment-industry platform connecting more than 1.3 million creatives with producers, executives, managers, and other decision-makers. Its annual TV Drama Screenwriting Contest seeks distinctive original pilots and has helped past participants secure representation, writing assignments, options, and production opportunities. The sixth annual competition offers finalists direct exposure to established television producers and executives, with winning projects receiving script development, career mentorship, and industry promotion.
