The Opposite of a Fairy Tale is one of eight films screening at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation NY Short Film Showcase on Wednesday, September 28th, at 7pm, at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Screening Room at 54th Street and 8th Avenue in New York City. Entry is free.

The film follows a social worker (Nikole Marone) who uncovers the prevalent issues of elder abuse after she befriends an elderly patient (Jo Yang) at a nursing home. The film also stars Deb Kuhn and Albert M. Chan.

The film was made possible, in part, through a grant from the Asian Women’s Giving Circle. The New York Asian Women will host a panel discussion following the screening, featuring writer Jennifer Betit Yen and actor Nikole Marone.

Held twice a year, in March and September, the SAG-AFTRA Foundation NY Short Film Showcase features a shorts program followed by a Q&A with the films’ directors, producers and actors present at the screening.
