Due to COVID-19, the 2020 Kids Video Connection Children’s Film Festival has canceled its live festival. Instead, selected films will be showcased in a Virtual Film Festival June 26-28, 2020. The Butler and the Ball will screen in Youth and Student Selections here between 11am on Saturday, June 27, and 11pm on Sunday, June 28. A live-streamed awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 28, at 8pm.
In selecting The Butler and the Ball, the festival’s review panel applauded the film’s original story and production value. The film, which is an urban fairy tale about a lonely boy who enters a contest to become the new butler of a grieving, reclusive singer, is directed by eight-year-old Andrew Chan-Possemato, who wrote and produced it with Albert.
