At tonight’s Awards Night Gala at the 2021 Children’s International Film Festival of Wales, The Butler and the Ball took home the Best of Festival Award for Best International Young People’s Film. In his acceptance speech, director Andrew Chan-Possemato thanked the Children’s International Film Festival of Wales and told that audience, “The Butler and the Ball is about being courageous, finding your heart, and finding connections with other people. I hope you all do that.”
Andrew Chan-Possemato, who was also the lead actor, was also nominated for Best Actor in the 7-12 year old category at the 2021 Children’s International Film Festival of Wales for his performance in The Butler and the Ball.
The Butler and the Ball, an urban fairy tale about a lonely boy who enters a contest to become the new butler of a grieving, reclusive singer, was directed by eight-year-old Andrew Chan-Possemato, who wrote and produced it with Albert.
The Children’s International Film Festival of Wales ran October 14-16, 2021, in Tredegar, Wales, at the historic early-19th century Bedwellty House and Park.
